Touch and Go
'With a temperature of 4C and threatening snow showers, 5 club members braved the elements at the first of this years club Events on Sunday 6th April. The requirement to complete as many 'Touch & Goe’s as possible in the 3 minute allowance proved a difficult task in the biting wind. First to go was Freddie Tregenna flying his Tutor 40 trainer and during the first round stopped the engine with a heavy landing , but with no damage. With much encouragement from the other competitors he improved on his score in later rounds. Ted Cooke flying his 'Cougar 2000' had problems with his engine after the winter layoff but still managed the highest score in the first round. Mick Page, a first time entrant to the Event flying an Electric 'Somethin Extra', struggled with the wind, but performed well using a specially made U/C to keep the prop well clear of the ground. He improved in the second and third rounds to finish in 4th place. Kevin Belcher flew his 'Flip 3D' but miss-judged the conditions and could only finish 3rd overall. Late arrival Steve Green promised much with his 'Tucano', but a heavy landing dislodged the bulkhead and stopped further use of this model and so a standby was used in the next two rounds, only to break the motor drive shaft. Bad luck Steve, but he finished 2nd overall. Ted Cooke returned, having sorted his motor, to put in some fantastic scores and become the outright winner.
