October Touch & Go - 5th October
Sunday 12th October turned out to be one of the best days of the year weatherwise, but having had to cancel the last three club competitions and postpone this one from the previous week, entrants were very low. The event consisted of completing as many touch & go’s as possible within 3 minutes, landing within the circles to score points.
First off was Steve Green with his electric Tuccano who managed 7 landings and several bulls-eyes to score 270 points. Next up was David Page with his ‘Ricochet’ Fun-fly, managing 10 circuits with a total score of 370 points. Next entrants were Dave Gent and Freddie Tregenna, both flying Tutor 40 trainers, and in a freshening wind found the spot landings more difficult. The second round proved to be more challenging in the windier conditions and nobody improved on their scores, leaving David Page the winner.

Taxi And Fly Event - 4th May
' A cool grey May Bank Holiday welcomed the 8 competitors to the Taxi and Fly event organised by Kevin Belcher, who was the first to fly and show us how it should be done. After taxiing round the tyre and cone, a take-off was executed for the first part. The second part was to fly two circuits, one in each direction of at least 20 seconds duration, the difference in time taken to count as the score. Much to every-ones surprise, most competitors were able to judge this quite accurately. Chris Halliday once again struggled with the Taxi phase and finished 5th. Mick Wilson also was unhappy with the conditions and slipped to 7th place. Newcomer Dave Gent was encouraged to take part on the 'buddy lead' and managed to taxi and fly the circuits, although opted out of the landing phase, Well Done Dave for taking part. Top dogs Steve Green and Kevin battled it out for 1st place and due to a complex scoring system the results took some time to be announced. The winner Kevin Belcher denied that his scoring system was biased toward himself, putting Steve Green into 2nd place with another newcomer Andy Anscombe an excellent 3rd. Unfortunately your reporter forgot his camera so there are no pictures this time. Next Event in the Club Events series takes place on 8th JUNE entitled 'LIMBO'. We wait with baited breath!
