     MAY NEWSLETTER

        Hi Flyers,

I'm glad April is out of the way, perhaps we will have some reasonable flying weather!!!   Don't hold your breath.............
Anyway I thought I would remind you what we have organised for the month of May.  On SUNDAY MAY 4th is the next in the series of club members Events organised by Kevin Belcher called 'Taxi & Fly' All members are encouraged to enter as most planes are suitable for this Event (except hand -launched ones!) Start TIME will be 13.00 but any time up to 15.00 is acceptable unless the weather plays it part.

Any member can attend the next Committee meeting which is on Tuesday 6th May held at the Anchor Inn Gunthorpe. Start Time 20.00.

YOUR HELP IS NEEDED AGAIN....... to continue with the Runway repairs, so if you weren't able to help the last time, here's your chance to make amends. There was a good turnout in March and a BIG THANK YOU to the 25 + members who turned up. A lot of preparation work was done before the heavy rain set in. We must complete the task this time so that we continue to have an accceptable flying surface. I've already been out with the weedkiller on the northern end of the runway,  SO............
THE DATE IS     SATURDAY     MAY  17TH    START TIME    10.00   Spades  Shovels, brushes and wheel barrows would be helpful items of equipment to bring with you.

SATURDAY/SUNDAY  MAY 31ST/1ST JUNE IS THE DATE OF OUR  FLY-IN THIS YEAR.
Some help with the preparation of the site on the Friday would be appreciated, most of the items required have been booked.
AS last year, FLYING for members will be free but if you are camping then a contribution towards the cost of toilet hire etc is requested.  PLEASE TAKE PART IN OUR ANNUAL MAJOR EVENT. Members actually flying is as much a part of the weekend as the invited guests. The Battle of Britain Memorial Flight of Lancaster Spitfire & Hurricane have been requested to Fly past on SUNDAY given the usual proviso's.

Tuesday's continue to be club Evening when training can take place from late afternoon onwards. THURSDAY'S are now designated BBQ Evenings, so bring your plane & burgers, Fly & Eat and discuss the topics of the day. There will be NO training on Thurdays!
So May should be a fun filled month and then there is the flying as well........
