At last! third time lucky , a pleasant flying day
for the club Scale event.
Each plane was given up to 20 points for
how closely it resembled the original, and a further 80 being
allotted to how well it was flown.
First up in the Club
Pilots section was Steve Green flying his electric Lancaster to
great effect and accumulated a steady score flying appropriate manoeuvres.
Next to fly, Kevin Belcher flying his Fokker monoplane look-alike, scored
well but was let down by a poor landing.
Trevor Booth flying his 'Blue
Angel' jet made good use of the high cloud base with smoothly executed
loops and Cuban 8's and scored highly, only slightly marred by an average
landing.
Norman Quilter's PC9 suffered engine problems on take-off which
sidelined him for the rest of the event.
Next was Rex Leavesley flying
an electric powered Ford Trimotor which he flew well in the light breeze
but the landing was a bit erratic ending with the plane tipped on its
nose thus reducing his score.
David Page completed the club pilots section
flying his Stampe Bi-plane with a good take-off and aerobatic sequence
but again scored poorly on landing marks.
In the Display Pilots section
there were only two entrants, Ted Cooke flying a Spitfire completed some
excellent loops and rolls in a scale like manner and Glenn Masters first
time flight with a Cessna 332 also scored well, not realising he was
in the competition.
After a check of the scores, Trevor Booth was declared
the winner, Steve Green, second and David Page, third, in the club pilots
section, with Ted Cooke, first followed by Glenn Masters in the Display
pilots section.
Thanks to all who took part, and don't forget that on October
7th is the Event called 'Taxi and Fly'. All Pilots are encouraged to
enter for the fabulous prizes now on offer.
