Many thanks go to Steve Mallinder who single-handedly
organised and ran the first ever Langar Aerobatics clinic.
The day started with Steve, whose currently the UK's top IMAC pilot, giving a
very informative and entertaining talk on the basics of aerobatics, the Aresti
'Aerobatic Diagram' System, the IMAC Basic schedule and aircraft trimming.
As most of the attendees were competent club flyers with little or no experience
of competition aerobatics Steve did an excellent job with each subject by covering
all the relevant points and issues that us newbie’s need to know to get
us off the ground (pun intended) without bogging us down with to much technical
detail but showed and shared his extensive knowledge by giving a full, in-depth
explanation to any questions raised.
As the ground school progressed Steve also distributed handouts that contained
additional information on each of the subjects he was covering.
After a short break Steve flew a demonstration of the Basic schedule followed
by the Unlimited schedule in extremely adverse wind conditions with a gusty cross
wind of 25mph+!
The itinerary had included a have a go session for the attendees but time and
the weather conspired against us and the event drew to a close.
Many thanks to Steve from all who attended for a well thought out and informative
day.
