Aerobatic Clinic and the Spektrum Aerobatic Challenge 2009

Aerobatic Clinic

Steve Mallinder is again holding his Aerobatics Clinic on Sat 30th May and he has kindly agreed to organise and judge two aerobatic events this year both to be held two weeks after the clinic on Sunday June the 14th.

During this years aerobatic clinic Steve will be including sections on both classes of the aerobatics competitions to be held two weeks after the clinic.

Spektrum Aerobatic Challenges

The Spektrum Basic Challenge Event

This will carry points for the year long series of events that have been organised by Kevin Belcher.

It will consist of 6 manoeuvres chosen by the pilot from a list of 8 and are to be flown in the order of the list; this just is to make judging a little easier.

Judging of a manoeuvre will only start after the pilot’s caller has called "Start" and judging will end, funnily enough, when the caller calls "End". No other part of the flight will be judged so you will have plenty of time to compose yourself and position your model ready to start the next manoeuvre.

Manoeuvres

1. 1 Roll - on centre

2. Stall turn - at either end

3. Loop

4. Split ‘S’ - Gain height ½ roll on entry, then pull ½ loop, exit upright.

5. 45 Down-line – Gain height, push to 45 downline, pull to exit upright.

6. Immellman - Pull ½ loop, on top perform ½ roll to exit upright.

7. 1 ½ Roll on centre – Perform 1 ½ rolls on centre, exit inverted.

8. Outside loop from top – Gain height, push to complete a full loop exit upright.

The Spektrum Sportsman Challenge Event

This is an aerobatic schedule style event and consists of 9 manoeuvres to be flown in a continuous sequence from start to finish. Judging only starts at the point when the pilots caller has called "Start" and will end when "End" is called after the last manoeuvre has been completed, takeoff and landing are not judged.
This event is non points scoring.

Schedule

1. Positive snap - on centre.

2. Half Reverse Cuban Eight – Pull to 45, perform half roll, pull 5/8th Loop. Exit upright.

3. Loop on centre – Begin and finish on the centre line.

4. Stall turn. Exit upright.

5. Cobra - in 45 up-line perform half roll, pull to 45 down-line with half roll. Exit upright.
