Florida Jets is an annual event hosted by Frank
Tiano, and takes place every March in Florida.
It's 'THE' Jet Event, and I have been fortunate enough
to be able to attend for several years now.
This year was a great show, and although a little cold
and windy for the first day or so, the final two days
were 'RC fun in the sun!', constant flying with 4 or
5 models in the air at any one time - drawing many jet
pilots and crowds!
I flew my BVM KingCat this year, and although Florida
Jets is more a 'Jet Together', than a competition, I
was lucky enough to be awarded the trophy for 'Best Sport
Jet' for my BVM KingCat.
My KingCat sports a custom paint scheme and credit must
really go to Larry and Vern Kramer for doing such a great
job on this scheme, however I like to think that my flying
may have swayed the judges just a little, as only models
that fly can be awarded! (well that sounds good anyway,
but to be honest it was more the Kramer paint scheme
than my flying!)
Ali Machinchy was also in the running for this award
(with his Ultra Bandit) but I just managed to deny him
the honour! ;-)
Cheers to the organisers and the attendees for a great
time!
